Why compare salary by the hour?
Two jobs with similar annual salaries can have very different effective hourly values when their schedules differ. Estimating hourly pay can make that trade-off easier to see.
How to use the result
Use your normal working schedule rather than an idealized schedule. If a job regularly requires overtime, consider using the hours you realistically expect to work.
